If you experience your head rounding like in a vertigo, while driving a vehicle in a video game, or when you are in motion in a video game, then you have got "motion sickness" from video games. If you are hearing the term first time, then it is the disorder in which you feel like vomiting, drowsiness and sick when you are travelling. It makes your travel a nightmare. It happens to people when they play video games which includes lots of simulation.
The main reason for motion sickness is the mismatch of messages that you get from your eyes and ears and your physical surrounding. Your inner ear sends to brain the signals of you moving, which you get from the sound and visual of the game, and at the same time the ear gets responses of your body not changing the position. It sends both type of signals to the brain, and brain in turn can't figure out which response is true. As a result, you feel sick, dizzy or uncomfortable.
This problem was firstly associated with people using flying or driving simulators. The doctors called it "Simulator sickness". Nowadays most of the games involve simulation, which has lead to the growth of "simulator sickness".
Consequences
Motion sickness can make your travelling a nightmare. You can feel drowsy, unhealthy, vomiting, or even can have dizziness like in a vertigo when you travel. If you don't take it into consideration, other more worrying symptoms such as cold sweating, severe pain, sleep deprivation and even pallor of varying degrees. You might also have heard of people dying after playing games for too long. The main reason for that is "Simulation sickness". They become so much used to that they develop the habits of ignoring the symptoms of this disease, and since the confusion grows up in the brain, which even leads to death.
What you can do?
The easy step-
If you can't give up gaming altogether, you can consider playing games that does not consist of simulation, or has less simulation. If you decide to play a game that will make you sick, play it for short periods and take frequent breaks. Whenever you feel the disease dominating you, just take a break from the screen. This will remind the mind that the signals of motion that you receive from gaming are not real. If you can, try to quit gaming for sometime.
The hard step-
1. Meditate daily. Meditation will help in healing your mind, make it more lighter and more easy. It can cure motion sickness.
2. Think of the situation. Picture yourself in your mind of you experiencing motion sickness. This will help your mind to get more familiar and clear with the confusion and will develop feelings inside you that the senses you get from screen are not real. These feelings will fight the sickness when it strikes on you while playing games.
