Parallel Universe
You might have heard about Parallel Universe, from stories like science fiction to science fact, there comes the concept that suggests us about the existence of various universes parallel to our universe connected to each other through spacetime, where you choose your universe each time when you choose your reality.
There is a whole bunch of comics, fantasy films, science fictions to science books that introduces us to the concept of Parallel Universe. The parallel Universe itself is a part of the Scientific theory known as Multiverse. So how did the concept of Multiverse came into existence?
The need for a Multiverse
About 13.8 billion years ago, the Big bang occurred, due to some unknown trigger due to which the universe came into existence. Now the natural question is "Is this the only universe that exists?". With our current limited technology, we might not be able to find out about the existence of other universes. Some of the theories that lead to the conclusion of Multiverse are:
1. Infinite Universes: We don't actually know the shape of spacetime(or simply space), so we assume that the flat space goes on and on, bringing to the possibility of wast number of universes, and the universes repeating themselves.
2. Bubble Universes: Based on a scientific reaserch, when we look onto spacetime as a whole, some areas of the spacetime stop inflating, otherwise however it would keep getting larger. To avoid this, we picture our universe as a bubble, sitting next to a lot of bubbles spread around the spacetime. This is the theory of Bubble Universe.
3. Daughter/similar Universes: If we follow the theory of quantum mechanins, each action ca lead to so many outcomes. So, according to this theory, for each outcome we choose for a particular universe, we jump ourselves into that universe identical to our own.
4. Parallel Universe: At last, there comes the idea of parallel universe. If we go back to infinite universes, we will find that since spacetime is flat and ever expanding, the number of possible particle(atomic/sub-atomic) configuration would then be limited. Since for parallel universe, the cosmic patches would be repeated infinitely many times over. That implies that there are infinite parallel universes. They are cosmic patches exactly same as ours, differ by only one or more particle position.
But not everyone agrees to the theory of Parallel Universe. One strong fact that questions this theory is that Since the formation of universe, the rate of expansion of the universe is not constant. It is slowly decreasing. So, the cosmic arrangements might require different rates and times of inflation, which questions our present Parallel Universe theory.
